Another Friday night escape. Dora waited patiently in the car park. My work was done for the week. Dora had been in for some work so we hadn’t been away for a few weekends. A new canopy had been fitted and Kevin had made some secret modifications awaiting my discovery.
But now we were off heading just over an hour down the motorway to Chester Lakes.
On arrival we were surprised to find we had been allocated a grass pitch – our first time on grass! Worse case scenario the warden would have to tow us off at the end of the weekend.

Our pitch was convenient for the rather basic toilet and shower block. The warden advised we parked as far over as possible as more people were expected. But we had the field to ourselves for the weekend.
We have our own little routine now, setting Dora up. The great excitement is will the TV pick up any channels?
After a long day at work Jane was ready for beverage. The convenient onsite restaurant, albeit rather pricey, was a haven of tranquility. The weather was mild enough to sit outside and enjoy the wildlife.
Having searched the area on google maps Jane set off on the Saturday morning to explore the local village Dodleston. Just over a mile away, so a pleasant, flat 35 minute walk to the village. The village had been part of a Motte and Bailey castle network during Norman times. A gentle stroll back to Dora, stopping en route at the very well stocked village shop for some bread and a paper.
We spent a leisurely afternoon at Chester Lakes before returning to the restaurant for an evening meal.
Sunday morning and our tidying up routine is getting slick. Home by midday.
Here’s looking forward to next weekend.
