Excitedly we set off for the East Lincolnshire coast where I have happy memories of childhood holidays in Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes, and Skegness. So I packed my summer jumpers and off we went.
First stop a lovely little pub.

Full of memorabilia from bomber command who were based in Kirmington during WW2 and Guy Martin’s exploits. Menu looks good so dinner here later.

Awoke to a lovely sunny morning.
Cleethorpes

Staying at The Showground Site. Bit crowded.

As a geographer enjoyed discovering the Greenwich Meridian during my afternoon stroll.

And miniature train

Next stop Skegness
Staying just outside Skegness at Skegness Sands.
Good 2 mile walk along the sandy beach and coastal path to Skegness.

And so we headed home. Sadly to a family funeral in Salford Prior. For those who share black humour read on. The rest skip this.
Unfortunately the grave had not been dug. The shared grave’s first occupant was possibly needing to be a bit deeper, so service a little extended whilst digging.
Anyway finally sorted.
M6 and M5 a nightmare so stopped over at the Saracens Head for dinner

Good Morning Saracens Head

And they even do a big veggie breakfast
Great journey home taking the A53 Leek to Buxton Road. This has now replaced my previous favourite road. Fortunately no one will need to endure one of my classic assemblies about my favourite roads ever again!!!
Happy days!
